“Music makes the people come together.” This is probably one of the smarter things Madonna has had to sing about. I’ve attached episode one of Tiesto’s mini-series called ‘In the Booth’. If you haven’t already watched it all the way through, and you are a fan of electronica, watch it and I promise it will give you a tingling sensation. If this doesn’t inspire you to do great things I don’t know what will.
I also want to attach a far from perfect midterm paper I wrote for a sociology class I took at Barnard back in Winter 2011. It’s a brief commentary on the modern state of music (focusing in on electronica) and the changing landscape we’re all helping fuel. I honestly believe we’re at the height of a shift in mainstream music, in the same way that Rock & Roll and then Hip-Hop changed up the game. I want to see readers sound off on where they think electronic music is heading, which artists they would like to see working together, and what implications these changes have on how we consume, produce, and distribute music.
And here is a NYT Interview w/ Tiesto.
